Weekly Wisby 3: Julius ruins board game night
My plans to do some studying briskly tumbled into oblivion once the guy at the table next to me started telling a story to his mates about how he sublet his room to a scammer who turned out to be this meth supplier that used the room as a storage, hideout and party house. He had to return early from his vacation because they wanted him undercover, so then he worked closely with the police through the process of “evicting” them to collect some names and ultimately apprehend the supplier and a buttload of meth as well with a huge finder’s fee attached.
So if this is the only free time you’ve got left this week, you should probably read his blog instead.
Sunday was
another meetup with the folks from Game Design in Practice. It was all games again
though, not many people have a business idea. Hopes to find team members for my
online town teen platform are slimming by the minute. Adam gave me a bit of
advice during our tutoring session though. Research your audience, try to come up
with a plan that utilizes game design to create your platform with, then try
and pitch that to the group.

Now is Friday
and I have not been able to do it yet. I’ve been playing a bit of catch-up
actually since I hadn’t written my blogs last weekend and these take an
enormous amount of time like you wouldn’t believe. If I had a dime for every
minute I’m wasting slaving away filling these pages with words I would not need
my degree I tell you what you people should know better making a poor student
go through all this nah I’m just kidding I love doing it, I just didn’t feel up
to it during the week break.
Finally I
went to programming class! Physical, honest to god not-behind-a-screen class!
It was great to be able to sit next to one of my buds and just… be there. Corona
has made me pretty easy to please I guess. And, of course, in 2 hours I finished
my coding assignment with bells on. I try to work ahead though and if I have
some spare time work on my comedy.
People often come up to me and ask: “Casey, what’s the best way to make my ex jealous?” And I’ve got a couple of answers lined up, depending on who’s asking.
Beat them at scrabble. That has worked for my nana several times.
Rebound with the ex you left your ex for. It’s a subtle way of saying: “I thought you were the one, so I left my shitty relationship behind, but then after we’ve been together I would now rather go back to that then think about you again.”
If they’re gay I’ll tell them “date their affair”.
And I’ve got this one buddy of mine who was dating a disabled person. It was too late for them, but you may use this: when they break up with you, and they go for the door, overtake them and go “let me help you with that”.
Thursday was the day I had told myself to finish my ignite presentation. For GDP (Game Design in Practice) we have to create a presentation about who we are and how we work in a team and things like that. But instead of doing all that I just had a super chill day. Sophie and me went to get signed up for Rindi (the student association) and made pancakes, then I met up with Brian walking for 3 more hours and eating burgers. We missed his bus, so we went to sit in the school building to do some studying, but when we arrived they were setting up board game night for all the first years, so I got to join that!
Great
stuff! I met a lot of people, including this girl from Greece who lived in
Napfoli. My next goal in life is that, to visit Napfoli which looks like an absolutely
stunning location. Julius might not like this next part though when I’m telling
you all about how I was right and he was wrong, but I find it quite hilarious. We
did a Kahoot quiz which, if you don’t know, is exactly the same as a regular
quiz but it’s called Kahoot. Honestly I don’t know why they bothered. But it
was a quiz about games, and we were on top, our team had the most points and we
were going to win. But then on 2 questions where I knew the right answer,
Julius convinced me I was wrong and we ended up losing by a point! One was a
simple miss-guess of his, but then for the other we had to name the most successful
PlayStation game for double points, and I had it, but then Julius went “No no that’s
for Xbox!” So the moral of the story is, don’t listen to your friends because
they can’t be trusted.
Then from 23:00 till 1:30 I made my ignite presentation.
Great story again Casey. Seems like you have landed in a fantastic place for socializing.
